Not all Publicity is Good Publicity

After the Ellen DeGeneres iPhone dust-up, does Apple need to lighten up? - CSMonitor.com

Ellen DeGeneres does a fake iPod ad that takes a poke at Apple, iPhone, and herself - video is embedded in the bottom of this article. Apple overreacts. Ellen apologizes. The blogosphere blows up with criticism of Apple.

The best line I heard was that Apple should be suing AT&T because their service makes the iPhone difficult to use as a phone. I don't remember who said it.

And now, obviously, the original fake commercial is getting a whole lot more publicity for Apple and DeGeneres than if Apple had just ignored the whole thing. And all the publicity for Apple is bad. sigh.
